@icarushector : the only reason is just that the author is bad.

And as @RamenRider pointed out, you can add in the very bad world construction : by marrying to the royal family you just condemn your childs to be cursed by the spirit and to live without magic in a world that revolve around it (in physical and spiritual sense). Nobody would agree to that. And even less people would ever agree to let the most powerful, respected and heroic family being forced to cripple themselves by doing that.
