The thing that's a bit annoying to me so far is we see them talk about these magic "levels" and how strong they are and how hard they are.
But like... We still haven't seen them used in combat or much of anything!
Right now the magic things feels so useless other than some feel good moments like giving Will an eye.
Other than that it has barely any use, we could have ignored magic and have Alicia get special treatment in enrolling early with her swordsmanship alone.
Like this story moved up so fast in the magic levels that it makes it feel useless because I we didn't even witness the levels in between and how useful they actually are in combat.
It's like why have level???
They all feel the same now because there's no showing of them at all, and they barely get any real moment to be important.
The only one I can actually think of is knowing Liz was stronger than Alicia in magic because she could stop her movements all together with ease.
But if that's the case what's the point of making Alicia seem like such a genius with amazing learning speed, if we don't show the results of those at all?
Her combat skills are good, but I can't even really determine how good.
All she's fought are untrained thugs and one village guard that's also untrained.
Any decently trained person can do the same thing if they spent years training.
So it's like where are the enemies that actually pose a challenge?
Or at least at a similar level where Alicia has a much longer fight can show off her results?
It all feels like these things were just added in the story to make the world feel more fantasy and make an excuse that these reincarnations and mind manipulating events are done by otherworldly magic because "we're in a video game~"
Like this story could work just fine without them...
It all just feels so hollow of importance and all artificially added in that I really can't enjoy it much.
Let us see the results!
Show some combat!
Let us see just how strong these magic levels actually are!
Don't just skip them and think that's good writing!
