If this isn't the right place to ask, please direct me to where it is.

I used to have no problem reading chapters from MangaDex. However, since the new version rolled out, I keep getting "Request failed with status code 403" errors when I try to read them; typically, those go away after 5-15 refreshes. The same happens if I'm logged in.

I really hope this is not relevant, but... I'm using Tor Browser for the site.

Thank you in advance for your time and consideration.

ETA: Just found out that using Legacy reader seems to work for me, so if nothing else that's an acceptable work-around.

@Random_Passer-by It's because of Tor, yes. It appears that the issue is CloudFlare's security detection catching some node in your circuit when trying to access the API, determining you might be a robot and preventing access until you confirm you're not by completing their CAPTCHA... which you obviously can't do in the reader. The solution, at least for now, would be to roll a new circuit and hope for the best. I'll talk to Holo about it.

I will say that if you're going to be logged in anyway (which you'll have to be to use legacy), using Tor is going to be pretty much pointless security-wise because you're still broadcasting exactly where your ip will be.

At best you'll slow down whoever wants to find you out.

I saw the new message---thank you! At the same time, though, I've been using the legacy reader for a few days and find it way more comfortable than refreshing like a lunatic. Perhaps that's worth mentioning on the message?
