From what I can see of those sound effects:

The second-to-last panel is "Zaan." It can be a slash, but it can also be a tumbling and falling sound. The "a" is elongated, indicating a slight drawing out of the sound. I'm guessing a slightly slower fall, like slow motion.

The last panel is "kikiki" which is a screech or a squeal, like tires on a pavement trying to stop and losing traction. It's also used as an evil laugh, or a bat cry in some contexts I've seen.

What the actual meaning of these sound effects are -- a native could probably understand their context better -- will be revealed next chapter. Or in the spoiler tags people have left.

it's not zaan but Zawa which equates to noise made by convo and the like. Tooru noticed a noise on the last page. Whatever it was, it may be a person... or something.

You'd think this is a no brainer for the noble to grant this. For the price of a cheap house with a decent yard, he can keep an adventurer that's shown they are powerful enough to be a good asset in his town indefinitely. Usually they would be travelling and going from town to town to find jobs, but a home in town means they should be there more often than not, which is a huge boon to the town and the noble himself.

Seems like an obviously smart investment.

For real. Likeable female character becoming a bad guy (or was all along) is turning into a trope as well.

Seen it in a few works I read last few years, and its getting annoying. "WOOOO THE CHARACTER YOU LIKE IS BAD GUY OR BEING MANIPULATED/BLACKMAILED"

Cue if actually bad a "redemption arc" or "tragic death" when fighting the even more evil baddies aka Vegeta v Frieza.

This whole arc was tryhardism and I didn't care for it. As many said about the "okay anyone want to use water magic, and why is obviously OP mage elf sitting there like a dunce?" comments. Everything after Luka joined them at cave was basically shit.
