In her defense after her father left her mental kinda all messed up and she can't play like she used to. mental block is a thing. I think we can see that she didn't focus on the music during the interview but her father in her mind in the past chapters.

And that's assuming that her evaluators weren't also harsh and she didn't get to hit the one person willing to give her a chance.

Art's especially like that, but so are jobs in general.

Hearing the keyboard again is breaking seals in Ri-chan's head... but maybe her dream isn't truly dead. Maybe she can't be a performer, but perhaps she can still follow a similar path by working in music production, composition or other supporting roles.

Her parents divorcing shattered her world. She was young so it definitely affected her more harshly too. Just because she was unable to give her 100% for the auditions doesn't take away from the fact that she devoted a good chunk of her life to studying music.

I thought it was artistically represented pretty well in the panels.

She has skill.

Basketball coaches would fail every professional tryout they attended. It doesn't mean they don't know the game.

Plus its heavily implied that Ri-chan is actually very talented but is held back by a lack of support pillars in her life. Thats what happens in real life too. All the time.
