She literally said elves will rapidly mature physically at 30.

So in 4 years she'll physically grow older, unless the author has Dion pull another Deus ex Healing.

Though if you want to get really into it, even if she physically changes to an adult at 30, to elves she's still a child, but humans see her as an adult, and consider her as an adult since she would be 30 years old.
To add, she's considered an adult at 50, so 30-50 are the equivalent of human teenage years. So for all intents and purposes, she is still a child, about to become a teenager. Also, years lived is an extremely poor measurement of maturity, otherwise we would consider dogs and cats as having never reached adulthood.

As for mentally, it really depends on whether or not elven brains mature at the same rate as humans. If elven brains don't reach mental maturity until the body is mature, then there's no legal loli here. If the brain is fully mature before the body starts maturing, a legal loli can then exist. Of course, I doubt the author actually thought that far given how shoddy the story has been.

Huh. The comment section is now open. I have a feeling it will turn into a discussion about slavery and being a 26 year old loli. :wooow:

This premise seems familiar — a sick and "worthless" slave girl healed by her master. I just can't pinpoint it. I was guessing Shield Hero, but I don't think Rapthalia was in that state. Maybe a lot of manga/anime used this premise that's why.
Man that shit is already happening

It shows that the Japanese are ignorant about slaves, they cost more than an employee... you need to feed them, make sure they are healthy so they can do the work in the first place, shelter them and make sure they actually stay. An employee you just give a salary and let themselves figure out how to manage those things. Why do you think we stopped it. Plus there is a stark difference with Feudal Serfdom and being a chattel slave i.e property.

Ain't this a chapter full of conveniences, huh?
Slaves conveniently cheaper than proper workforce.
Slave with a convenient defect, that no one can handle.
Convenient sudden power up, so Dion can handle said defect.
That slave conveniently indebted to Dion.

Talk about her age was confusing. The way she explained made it look like she is not adult yet, but even with that, it still looks like she is still considered mature by everyone ("Even her responses are so mature...").

Actually, slavery might be quite profitable for individuals (exploiters), especially if labor is low-skill and environment is harsh. Slaves would require a bare minimum to keep them in a work-able condition, while employed laborers would demand more than just enough to get by.
Of course, for economy as a whole, it's inefficient, but there are reasons slavery was around for so long in some kind of form.

I’d say the depiction of slavery in this manga at least should be questioned. The main characters aren’t too poor to afford anything but a slave. They’re successful adventurers who can afford a house, and can’t afford a servant because of flimsy logic. First, not all servants cater to nobility, and second, a slave who’s actually treated well (as the main characters will presumably do from now on) won’t be much cheaper than a servant.

all of these Isekai really like their slavery
but rather than the japanese protagonist personally justifying it or criticizing it while indulging in the excesses of it for a free love interest or bodyguard
this is slightly more excusable, as Dion is a resident of this world
//and ofc our world (especially the "developed"/ "first" world) still runs on slavery as well.
should be said the crime of slavery is highlighted by the way certain countries chose and treated their slaves vs other countries/ groups and if you're a Christian nut Exodus 21 in the Bible justifies some rancid shit RE slavery. (this was not meant to be an indent, just a way to separate remarks)
-if you're reductionist about it and treat slavery across the board as equal you give bad arguments to those who are dismissive about it.
but neither here nor there...

Author wants to have his cake and eat it too... Personally i don't think this is the 'W' for Dion that the Author wants
they want a house and they don't want to take care of it and can't be bothered to learn how to
-especially since the end result is they hired a legal loli, thinking she was an actual kid to do the work...
and we're basically fed schlop that Dion wants to help people?
was the loli and the one creepy criminal? the only slaves that needed healing in the dark corners of those cells?
out of sight out of mind, save the legal loli and get out.
agreed, well done

So in this world, Elvs hit puberty at age 30 and it lasts for 20 years... interesting way to do the long lived race.

Raphtalia was somewhat sickly when Naofumi bought her, which is partly what starts her devotion to him. Atla who he picks up later in the story was similar, though she was so sick she was at death's doorstep, probably why her own devotion turned fanatical.

Couple other trashy manga did the same: "Keikenchi Chochiku de Nonbiri Shoushin Ryokou ~Yuusha to Koibito ni Tsuihou Sareta Senshi no Mujikaku Zamaa" practically carbon-copied the Naofumi-Raphtalia setup (even got called out in the comments of ch. 1), there's also another Isekai with a marksman who uses magic bullets, in that story he picks up a blind rabbit girl as a slave and uses a "healing bullet" to fix her sight. So this is like, the fourth time I've seen this gimmick out of all the stories I can remember.

Interesting developments. Maybe what a slave offers also is privacy? They cannot talk about the master's actions at all. So the plan to destroy the other adventurer and stopping that evil dragon-god can be spoken about without fear of the worker being paid to spill.

Ooh thanks for this detailed response. I think I remember that one with the bullet: Magan to Dangan wo Tsukatte Isekai wo Buchinuku!
