The magic users are elitist jackasses who want to destroy civilization so they can hold onto power.

Fuck them, hope they die.
This civilization is pretty messed up, though.
Bigger isn't necessarily better, ain't much way a wizard's beating Yoshida's definition.
Hmm. You're right. Well the only way this can really be resolved is through thorough examination. The only way it can properly be done is if we get more chapters with Yoshida's legs to compare.

Didn't expect exploding kittens in this one. Author surprised me again.
As for the conflict analysis: from one side we have wizards thinking they could stay above everyone else because they stronk, an their leader has wiped out demon kingdom for unknown reasons (I have a feeling it was somehow innocent country). From the other side we have a mass of faceless bureaucrats constantly generating idiotic and sometimes inhuman proposals, like putting people into barrels or brainwashing them (they even encroach on kids, bruh). Thus I'm siding with poor frost wizard and declare them both wrong, we need some new order where people are considered as equals, but treated as humans.
Thanks for translation of this masterpiece, as always

The Podesta is a literal demon refugee from the demon kingdom. What's happening in Idazig right now is basically a repeat of what the demons were doing in the demon kingdom that caused it to be destroyed. The demons do have a good point and the end goal they were going for might be better for everyone. The problem is the means, but, hey, they're demons.

Seems to me you are not properly reading this manga: mages are fighting for their very own survival. Literal, personal survival, not survival as a class.
The bureaucracy plan is to kill them, stuff them into barrels and use them as energy sources. And since they had not enough mages on hand to complete the huberbarrel project, they started using vagrants and orphans...

I feel like they were killed simply for "having horns" or something. Pure racism.

Er, no. The podesta herself (Pohtan the Weakest) already explained what happened in Ch. 31. Basically the demons created a "standardized" empire then the Hero of the time (now president of the Thief Corporation) destroyed it by killing the Demon King. The reason why the demon empire was destroyed by the original Hero is a bit complicated, but the gist of it is that their attempt at standardization was basically an attempt to end the heroic age by monopolizing violence. This is explained by Eight-Eyed in Ch. 14 although at the time we didn't know yet that it's related to the demon kingdom. In the process of "standardizing" the demons committed a heck of a lot of atrocities, like the barrels (first shown in Ch. 14) and "education" (meaning brainwashing, Ch. 18), and now they're using children as mana source. Basically, Pohtan and the demons do have a very good point but their methods are probably not what humans should tolerate.
