Once you realize that Nihei is godly at drawing and world-building but struggles with characterization and couldn't patch together a cohesive plot if his life depended on it, everything makes sense. However, his most recent work (Tower Dungeon) is a massive improvement. I never thought I'd see the day where I'd praise the way he draws facial expressions. But here we are.
