For what we know, it could be that he must grant any wish he want in his power, and being a friend is a concept that is within his power, he just don't need to grant her via a formal wish

True. But if he did use the wish for that then he wouldn't be able to use the wish for something that would make him disappear later. Or maybe him disappearing would over rule the wish. Or, like you said, he is not allowed to use the wish for something he could accomplish himself.
