Okay, the laughter, mocking, and insults were warranted. The tripping? Absolutely NOT. Brandishing a weapon just for someone giving you a tongue lashing is also not okay.

Ohhh, it's a fight now!

Those kidnappers have chosen to get murdered.
I agree with everything you said, except the part about brandishing a weapon. Annette is a young girl. A child. She has no strength. It doesn't matter if she has all the sword techniques, if she doesn't have the strength and stamina to back them up. Most manga get around this by giving the girl some form of "enhancement magic" and then pretend that men don't use it also.

Basically, she's physically weak and lacks the strength to win a fair fight. The broken bottle is part of a bluff, to prevent a fight. And if it does come to a fight, she'll need a weapon, to help her with how badly she is outmatched. Men are naturally physically stronger than women. Which is why, absent magic, they need weapons to have even a small fighting chance. On an instinctual level, men know that women are weaker, which is why women try to bluff men in a potential fight, it never works. This means that women should never bluff. They always need to use deadly force in a fight against a man. Which is also why they make terrible cops. If they don't use deadly force, they can easily be physically overpowered. I saw a video of one man in the UK, easily fending off 3 female cops. He wasn't even fighting them. He just didn't want to be handcuffed and arrested. So he wouldn't let them.

And since I know people will get butthurt about this, none of this makes women inferior or lesser in any way. They just aren't designed or evolved for physical combat.

I apologize for my ambiguity. When I wrote "Brandishing a weapon just for someone giving you a tongue lashing is also not okay.", I was referring to the large man with the sword, not the genderbent lead.
