I was hoping he gets skewered through his ass at first but then I found out that he was actually a pretty good guy deep down.... Makes you realize that the ugly pig-man = evil, has been too normalized to think otherwise

ok. so our MC figures out someone is stealing the stones.
sets up trap to figure out who it is with bad stones.
discovers the culprit
investigate culprit.- realize be useful and the whole children thing
trap already in motion so goes to deal with it
saves merchant for kids and now go way to handle distribution.
now powerful crime'lord type merchant in his debt...

that better then letting the king make fried pork. plus MC sees the whole trade web, not just the strands related to the demon king army. for they all connect, thats way commerce happens on that scale.

@mistke
We know everything about you.
We have your children in our hands.
We are two steps ahead of you in every endeavor you partake in.
We are able to pacify one of the ficklest entities you do business with.
IF WE CHOOSE TO DO SO - WE CAN DESTROY YOU.

We choose not to.
On a whim.

Now that is a power-move on equal footing to a literal god. Pigman is not grateful - he understands his position and grabs the option that benefits him the most once it's on the table. As cybik pointed out: "Show them you own them, THEN offer them an offer they CANNOT resist."

... after reading so many cliches, my eyes could no longer see Mt. Tai the plot twist even if it was directly in front of me.

character personality turnover so fast you'd get whiplash. Chapter 18 you'd think this guy would obliterate a country for gold, the next he's a literal humanitarian saint who provides for the less fortunate.

Trite, but still entertaining for my small brain 🙃
