story might be classic and simple but the reality that comes with it is what it made this series wonderful...
the realization that youre already inlove with someone else wont always come in an instant, you still need to go through whirlpool of emotions before you realize it...
great story...😊 the only thing that annoys me is that the pacing is confusing on last few chapters...im havin trouble with the sudden change of scenes and dialogue..

but can be forgiven..

This was a pretty good series. The pacing was all over the place and the author clearly decided switch gears from SoL gag series to serious romantic drama partway through, but the things that it did well were done very well. Most surprising was how the author managed to portray homophobic bullying without dragging the mood of the series down. The side characters were nice, although they fell into the yuri stereotype of everyone is lesbians, as well as being pretty underdeveloped. It sometimes felt like Kazama and Sumika's relationship should have popped off much sooner and the rest of the series should have spent more time on the rest of their friends. I'd recommend Sasameki Koto to anyone who has read a few yuri romance and is looking for more of the same or for anyone that though Aoi Hana and Girl Friends didn't have enough karate.

As much as I like reading about dumb Yuri waifus, this was a tough one. I went through the middle chapters with sheer willpower alone because the story was milked dry. I have read Yuri manga with less than 20 chapters that delivered a much better story, chemistry and payoff. I tried my absolute best to like the main couple but every time at least one of them were so unnecessarily dramatic. The author added characters, events that literally added nothing to advance the main plot in the middle arcs.

Tl;dr: It is a decent story that is told in a profoundly poor manner.

I really enjoyed it up to the halfway point. After that it dragged things out too much, then rushed the ending. Enjoyable, but inconsistent.

Kinda unnecessary long, but beautiful story, worthy to read because of the comedy, character and emotional moments.

Yeah, I popped through to this manga looking for a good Girls Love story and to be honest... I didn't find this manga all that great. Un-great enough that I skipped to the final volume. The start wasn't terrible, but eventually it just seemed to start spinning its wheels and going nowhere, and then continuing to for chapters and chapters with no sign of re-engaging me in sight. The ending didn't seem terrible, but I can't really give a fair assessment considering I skipped so much of the manga.

I think if this manga's kind of meandering pace clicks with you, you'll probably enjoy it and find it a worthwhile read, but for me, despite enjoying parts of it, particularly the last couple chapters, I can't say I feel like I was rewarded sufficiently for the time the read took, even taking into account the fact I skipped a chunk of it. I'd say I find this difficult to recommend for the average reader

This is a great example of where a good ending really improves the overall impression of the series. You get a happy end with a couple of emotionally high impact panels to conclude things in a very satisfying way in the last couple of chapters. So while there are a bit of pacing issues at times, I think most readers will have long-lasting fond memories of this series and of the main couple. Glad that the physical 3-volume complete series is available in English now with 2024/2025 release dates and I will definitely be picking it up/pre-ordering it.

I also liked the balance throughout as far as the focus split between the two main couple characters and the comedy vs. drama elements. Kazama's nickname of "titty monster" also ranks right up there with "Big Tits" from Vampeerz! Would have liked to have seen a bit of fan service but it's still great even without it.

I had a couple issues with the pacing and a little bit too much focus on side characters. However, those moments that matter in a story. They're very well executed and memorable. I've gone back to a few chapters to just admire how well the emotion and tension is expressed through the art. Big props to the translators. 8.5/10

This is a very good but very flawed work. It has some high highs, some low lows, and a lot of confusing plots and periods of pacing. To put it simply, I wanted it to be better than it actually is.

Funnily enough, I think the characters are fairly weak in this story as a whole; they should have been more than who they were. Sumika is a strong almost perfect girl that "isn't cute." She is the epitome of a teenage girl, and I think that is a good thing. She knows who she wants to be but can't: a cute girl that fits Ushio's partner preference. She struggles between wanting to be close to Ushio as a best friend while wanting to be able to express her love to her. Ushio is that sunshine-smiling girl that overcomes her struggles as a girl who loves girls that never shows what's wrong to others, but there is a tragic struggle that haunts her past. Luckily, Sumika is there to help her through all struggles.. but maybe there's more? These two characters are fickle and wishy-washy, which gets pretty frustrating at times. Every other character is actually pretty simple, though that isn't always a bad thing.

So the story... It's a mixed bag. The beginning is really good and interesting as feelings are discovered and struggled with and against. Conflicts of the heart arise constantly, as one would expect of a teenage drama slice of life. The issue comes as the story continues, the pacing gets strange, and the characters begin to go back and forth. Honestly, the writing starts to work against itself, as it feels more fitting for an anime rather than a manga. Multiple events will be going on at the same time on the same page without distinction, and important events are given through flashbacks and in a very unclear manner. There are many really strong moments that are written well, but I still found myself asking, "So what was that about?" and "Wait, so what's going on between these two characters then?" A part of me wants to pretend that the bad parts aren't there to give it a higher score--one I wish it deserves--but I can't.

6/10 I.. still think this is worth a read. The strong emotional moments still has me recommend this series, but I say be cautious of the weird writing and pacing. Prepare to read some parts more than once to really understand what's happening, and it will help. It's good, but man there is a lot preventing it from reaching the greatness I hoped it would be.

Contrary to what people are saying I don't think the pacing in this manga is that bad except for the first 2 volumes which are standard slice of life and the final stretch. I found it easy to get bored of this manga up until Lotte was introduced and from there it really locks in on a generational runbfor the next 25-30 chapters. I understand some people may dislike the contrivances preventing them from getting together but the angst of them both thinking their love would ruin their friendship had me so hooked that I binged basically the entire manga in one sitting.

My only major gripes with this series is the ending timeskip and the treatment of akemi. Theres a really weird stretch after they've both confessed where they're still not together which apparently lasts their entire final year before they kiss for the first time? I get not every series gets a fun epilogue volume where the main pair is just together and happy(although it would've totally made sense) but the choice to keep them apart until graduation seems extra cruelly bittersweet. As for akemi I really enjoyed her character so the choice to end her focus chapter by publically outing her felt really awful considering how earnest the rest of the chapter was. Luckily the date sumi and akemi went on lowkey redeemed this in how it related their lgbt struggle in how society views them.

Overall I enjoyed it a lot, it was an emotional rollercoaster that touched my heart. 10/10!
