You can see the kangkuru was holding back even at the end.
Like when Ichijo stunned, the kangkuru follow up by a punch instead of a kick.
If Ichijou takes an axe kick in that situation, his skull would break in two and game over right there.

I hate fantasy MCs saying "it's nothing" after seeing or having a vision of something so mysterious and surreal, and still not sharing them to their confidants.
I mean, they are probably dismissing it as just some hallucination, but c'mon, hallucinations in a fantasy world is more or less really close to something real, then they end up realizing it too late later on
