I honestly don't agree with the victim blaming statement. Other than that fun chapter

She wants her sister to buy her donuts and then bring them home later after her exam? Finally she slips up! Donuts are lousy if you don't eat them soon after they're made. It can be from a great donut place but if it's been sitting in a box for hours it's just pasty dough infused with cold grease. You find the good place, you go there yourself, you eat them right after you buy them while they're still warm or almost, and life is very good.

After watching the Tv drama, I still think Okamoto-kun Manga version is best. I cant understand the beauty standard of Japanese

Nah I find her ideal things always slip up. Just she feels ok with it. All she has is lucky (of course she is talent, hardwork woman), but her act in real life is something that I never seen for my whole life,

I totally agree with Yatsuki, this manga often has weird morals and is very sexist. 😥

But other than that it's an enjoyable read.

Isn't this manga published in the 90s? So yeah, victim shaming was a thing then.....other than that, I like the manga for its uncomplicated plot and yes a real devil or a character. You might not like all her machinations (I certainly don't!) but the way the mangakaka tells the story is hilarious!!! Thanks to the scanalation team for allowing us to read a good slice of life manga of the 90s :)

to be honest, nothing has really changed about victim shaming and sexism on modern days manga. i remember very cringy things on Bakuman about how "girls should behave" ( member girl, if you have good grades and are proud of it, you actually are stupid because good girl are humble and don"t brag'' ) and how the mother's protagonist ''can't understant what is like to have a dream for a man'' because you know; she is just a housewife, she just can't get it.

and don't get me started on countless shoujo manga where sexual arrasment and attempted rape is okay because the girl will eventually fall for the boy.

This chapter gets 3 whole yikes from me. At this point I'm just reading to see good things happen to the younger sister. She deserves good things.

@malu I don't remember that in Bakuman, it sounds like you might be reading things in there.

Definitely agree on the shoujo manga though, ugh I hate that trope

@malu that's a complete misunderstanding of what takagi is saying. He's not arguing that Azuki is a "good girl" because she isn't smart, he's arguing that she's the smartest in the class because he doesn't think that "smart = good grades". He thinks that's she's smart because she instinctually knows how to play the system
