"The rise of the shield hero" sucks precisely because it introduces over 9000 unnecessary shallow uninteresting characters, after a relatively short Shield Hero + Raphtalia adventure arc, instead of making it a cozy adventure story of a small cast of characters you like and care about.

if I'm being charitable there is a definite element of 'translation is hard, there are limited ways to get feedback, getting good feedback in tyool 2026 is increasingly hard when everyone is angry online' and that's why I try to offer a PR pass whenever I'm giving feedback or calling something out as bad

but there's also ad grifting, MTL reliance, and the fact that there's plenty of commenters who will go 'yeah it seems good enough' so long as it reads like english even if that english is not internally consistent. And I kinda get it, you don't wanna crap on someone's work when the resulting product is free, but at the same time if you don't push back you run the risk of racing to the bottom of the barrel
