Woohoo! Another chapter! Oda's shocked look was epic lol. I'm shocked as well, and really want to go back to the gold standard. Lot's more young people around Shizuko now, wonder if she'll remain in this time or end up going back to her time. Kinda like the old shogun did.

Couldn't be worse than lending your entire banking system to money grubbing parasites I guess
Let's not ignore the fact that money lending is what allows people to attempt goals that are beyond their current means. Whether that causes them to fall into debt or fulfill their dreams is completely up to their management and the conditions of their environment. It's not the lenders' fault

Shizuko has the basic idea okay... but this is not something you can do half assed.

History is full of problems caused by half assed measures, the idea is simple enough at the conceptual level... but when things start to get on track there is a plethora of possible problems that will bear their ugly heads and funnily enough... the solutions are equally simple... it is just that the people that define the value don't give a shit for the problems they cause.

Yeah she says flat out that you have to be careful and seemed like she would be fine if Nobunaga decided that it was too risky but the man loves taking risks that can pay out thousands of times over so he’s gonna go for it

I'm reminded of Caleb Hammer's Financial Audit.
The worst part it's usually high earners that have the worse debt; just because someone makes bank doesn't mean they're smart enough to manage it.

I found it intriguing how both the East and the West came across the idea of paper money,.

But aside from the difference that the ancient Chinese court didn’t know jack about how money works and they went Zimbabwe at some point, I‘m not sure why it’s a failure there and a success in the West.
