Ok, I just want to remind folks that this is takes place in a time where life expectancy was half of what it is now. Once a boy or girl hit puberty and came into a fully functional reproductive system they where considered adults. It’s only creepy to us because of the standards that have been set for us during our lives that we would consider the norm.

It’s not like the writer has depicted sexual activity in the manga so far, so why does it matter if they choose to approach this subject?

I just don’t like seeing shallow comments that hate on a subject that happened in a time where it was considered necessary.
Just be glad that most developed countries now have advanced living conditions and medicine to the point where such things are no longer needed.

The title also made me quite uneasy, but they seem to have handled this very tactfully. And in the case of Shizuko having to marry for political reasons, I hope she would have enough importance and weight to simply refuse. Let’s hope this competent looking girl opens diplomatic discourse with the Shimazu clan, since they are also located closer to the ports facilitating trade with European merchants, it could be interesting
