Ok, educate me on this. What do today's kids consider to be the point where it's ok to take over a series that another group is working on. As far back as I can remember, it's always been three months.

NOBODY GIVES A FUCK. No one "owns" a pirated chinese doodle comics. You are not supposed to make a living from pirating said doodle comics. It's one thing to accept donations to buy raws but making profit opens up a can of worms. If you slack up, paywall or needlessly censor your uploads, then anyone can and SHOULD "snipe". Honestly, this TL is cute compared to what MTL does to xianxia novels. Having finished 2000+ chapters of an MTL xianxia novel i barely notice the difference anymore

I won't pretend like Fearlessblue was the apex of scanlation but I noticed the difference in quality from this new dude right away. It's not like it is bad, there is a couple mistakes, but I agree that FB had a better sense for when to take liberties with the translation to convey the intent versus just the meaning. I personally like to stick to one scanlator so that the choices for translation are consistent and it doesn't feel like characters speech mannerisms and "voice" change, unless the new scanlation is just way better.

frankly the thing that threw me off the most was that the panel of Daikuu thinking about the boat name has what looks like artifacts from sloppy clean-up and some questionable typesetting.

I'd need to go and check Fearlessblue's chapters but I don't recall any issues with them. In this one though, he swapped the pronouns from she to he to she again, all in the same page. And then he said 2 hours, and she was like what, 3 hours? So yikes if this is MTL, it's a really bad one, and the guy doing it is not even reading what he's working on.

Still miles ahead of those latin Spanish translators failing miserably at doing a Spanish to English translation to reach a wider audience though.

On one side I'm glad for a new chapter of this series and the translation quality is decent enough.

On the other hand it hasn't been long enough to consider this series as abandoned by the previous translator. The sniper might grow bored after churning out 3-5 chapters in a short time span, meanwhile the previous scanlator (who was working on this series since the beginning) moves on, because he thinks his/her project was taken over by someone else. I have seen something like this happen far too often.
