The problem is if my preferred translators stop translating it because of that reason, and then later on the snipers get bored of the series. Finally, no one updates the series anymore, which, now that I think about it, is probably the real reason some people have problems with snipers.

Yep, that's the jist of it. I've seen plenty of times where "A" is translating a series and when "B" starts doing their own translation, "A" drops it, only for "B" to later drop it. Sometimes they get bored like you said, other times it's because they realize that people reading the series aren't coming to their site and donating. By this point, "A" has moved on to other things.
