It works because we don't call our teachers sensei. Because it is a foreign word their is no inherent right or wrong way to use the word. We read it used as it is and that sounds right.

The word teacher we have been using all of our lives, we know how to use it, when it sounds right, and when it sounds wrong.

Although, I always knew it was gonna end abruptly. Because the usual Japanese cucks can't read any rom-com that doesn't have NTR in it.
