Bruh, it's a trashy RomCom, OF COURSE they're gonna go with the "I have actually always liked you" trope. I bet they'll even double down with the "I used to be ugly in high school, so I changed myself to 'become worthy of her'" trope.

Of course it's going to backfire on him, because after 2 chapters, Sensei will finally put 2 and 2 together when she remembers that he basically trashed the MC right to her face.

With Arase constantly messes around it's only matter of time before other people find out, lucky for them it was this teacher who did. If he was taking everything by face value, he would have called police immediately, because it doesn't matter if it was consented or not, pedophile is illegal. But instead, he actually gave them a chance to solve it quietly and saved Riko from possible trouble when someone else finding out. You think that's not already a consideration for both parties? Hmmmm I hate that their relationship is being ruined by that other teacher, but he has a point. If they get found out, she's the one who will take the most flack for it. He's a guy and a student so at worst they'll think he's a bad boy for getting involved with an older woman/teacher. If it was a female student, they might be labeled a slut. The teacher on the other hand may not only lose their job but also go to jail and never be able to teach again. It doesn't matter the intention. He's underage and as a teacher, it would an abuse of power. So while this is cute and all in a Manga, it's usually not as wholesome in real life. If she wanted to keep it clean, she would avoid him as much as possible until he graduated.

Meh who needs drama in a light hearted fluff manga. You dont need to go the domekano route to make a good teacher manga. Seriously doujins are like lvl30+ when it comes to storytelling even if its just 200 pages.

Perhaps publishers really are prohibited in some way. Or there is an unwritten secret agreement when it comes to student teacher romance. Shoujo is fine.. but make it shounen and suddenly you find the strangest storytelling choices. Perhaps i should headcanon reverse genders and read shoujo instead.
