Does it bother anyone else how stilted the dialogue is when something from psychology is described? It just feels like the author is talking through both of them.

just wondering why he follow his father rather than his mom

Likely the mom just dipped one day rather than going through the divorce process, I can’t imagine the dad was that much better in the past and Izumi likely would’ve followed her. (unless she’s awful too, par for the course).

That "dad" needs a pineapple shoved up his ass.

Also why can't I shake the feeling Kanon is about to do something incredibly stupid?

In Canada you would likely get charged and thrown in jail. Our law states you should run away or magically know how much minimal force you need to defend yourself.
Laws or not, if someone is breaking into my home, I'll break their bones with a baseball bat. And yes, I'm also a Canadian. Our country is too soft on criminals.

He was right to beat up the stalker. The school is basically saying: "If students are victims of assault, it's better for them to eat the attack than defend themselves."

Shitty dad probably had (a) shit parent(s). No way you treat your own kid like this growing up with loving and kind, but firm parents.

Good to see the boys come through for theirs. Does the story end after we figure out the story with the shaggy haired one?

The dad's shit, the school's shit, the culture around violence (self-defense specifically) is shit. Geez. This chapter was kinda frustrating.

Suspended for something that didn't even happen at school? Stupid system, and zero tolerance policies are BS
I think it's a reputation thing (not sure if a student directory/public info for high schoolers is that easily available) like how it's a 'thing' that some students aren't allowed to have jobs (tho you'd think other than a generous allowance, given the work culture in japan it'd be encouraged b/c highschool isn't free, supplies aside

i do remember hearing you can work after graduating middle school and not going to high school but i imagine unless you have connections the job options would prolly be limited compared to graduating high school even if you don't go to college)

i don't remember the mention of the mom but assuming she didn't die, mothers are capable of being 'deadbeats' too or so, idk how good the 'child support' in japan would be for payments versus just leaving him with his dad but yeah i can imagine the current MC would've wanted to move out much sooner

Is it true that Japanese parents don't love their kids?
I've an old colleague who lives and works in Japan. He told me he sent their 15 yrs old kid to boarding school and didn't get to see them until the holiday. Some parents would rather take care of their kids but most often both parents are working and cannot take care of them. It is a messed up system and Japanese society refuses to acknowledge this is a problem. When kids grow up, they don't have a relationship with their parents.

You hate kids? Then why have one? Hell, why get married, even? To quote the great DJ Khaled, "congratulations; you played yourself."
