Well, must say he was lucky to have a lesbian close by to speak about this matter :haa: But I guess there was no other way to have him understand a little bit more about gay relationships…
Now I wonder, will he be the only one out of the 3 boys who will success in keeping his relationship ? I mean, except the gay side, there isn’t any red flag about the other dude, or even himself, and the fact that his previous relationships didn’t last long could be explained by the fact that he’s actually more interested in dudes… well we’ll see, for now there’s no danger I think :haa:
Thanks for the translation

This reminds me of those street interviews of a man being asked if he was okay with the LGBT in Japan or something. It lead to him talking about how he had slept with a man and went "Eh, i tried it. Wasn't for me". Can't help wonder if this will go the same route.

Yeah feels like there’s a mismatch of intentions even disregarding sexuality. Seems like Koga is just offering a relationship so the guy won’t leave rather than wanting to date or experiment.

I liked the way she put it. It's like, in your head you can logically put it any way you want, but when it comes to reality, stuff never goes according to plan, both for you and the other person. Much like how you can't help but like who you like.

This is why it's so freaking important to have diversity in your life. It's probably the best way to prevent insensitive attitudes, since you come to naturally learn about those who are different from you and get a new perspective that will help you grow as a person.

Yeah, that's about as much as I would expect from a convenient lesbian that was conveniently written into existence just to move the story forward quickly. Barely alive, just there to literally lecture the protagonist.
I said it before, and I'll say it again. The topics being brought up are goldmines, author simply don't know how to write :nyoron:

I think that's being a bit too harsh but I do agree to an extent. I feel like it would have been more natural if Kanefumi met with Asahi again and then Kanefumi gave his side of the story and explained basically the same bits that Lesbian Girl did. It would still be a bit ham-fisted but it wouldn't come from a magical gay mentor character.

The author already established that Kanefumi was coming around and wanted to meet Asahi again anyway before Asahi even talked with the girl so it isn't like Asahi needed that extra lecture to convince Kanefumi to talk to him again. It would also go a long way towards showing a more natural progression of the two's relationship as Kanefumi explains why he freaked out the way he did. Asahi (and more importantly the audience) gets the same lesson but it gives them a point of connection to bond over instead of Asahi just showing up being like "Oh man I sure learned my lesson! Now we can be friends again!" with zero input or effort on Kanefumi's part. It makes it about THEIR progression and not Asahi's sole progression when the story is obviously trying to be about both people's growth.

I wouldn't go as far as Asahi did at the end, but it doesn't bother me what type of sexual orientation a person is. Whether they are homosexual or heterosexual, as long as they are cool with me, I'm cool with them. It's not like it's some disease and you will catch it. If you are true to your desires, there's nothing to worry about.

I think the mangaka is handling this topic well so far and I hope that this arc will leave some readers more understanding and informed. Probably some people went “BL? Eeew” and dropped this and that’s kinda sad :(
This manga gets a pass for me due to how they're tackling this topic, and also how homosexuality isn't the main point of this manga, it's just tackling the struggles that 3 highschool boys are going thru

The thing that does rub me the wrong way is the fans that like to shove that interest down other people's throats

I've had a Facebook friend years ago who was into BL and man....she really made me uncomfortable with how much of that interest she tried to thrust upon me, then judged me when I addressed my feelings about it, yea never again, some women really be wilding when it comes to their BL mangas

I'm rooting for him.
It would be good if they could at least stay friends since the new boy probably needs some kinda support bc I imagine in this kinda story I don’t think his parents would accept if not still staying closeted tho the hand touching at the end might also be leading him on/giving him false hope

Tho I’m sure there are ace gay relationships the same way there are ace lesbians since relationships shouldn’t revolve around just sex or if current guy ends up being “Demi” versus just full on aro
