The problem is that the narrative is overreliant on ex-machinas to drive the plot forward. While I disagree with that fuckaface's analysis that they are introduced specifically to make Kaede relapse - Tsubasa's part was actually quite organic, and only the blonde girl encountering Kaede somewhat and to an insignificant extent fits the definition of "fucks everything up" yet, there's way too many coincidences happening throughout the manga for the sake of pushing certain plot developments forward

I'm confused... isn't it a stretch to call these events/people ex-machinas when the MC is going out of his way to put himself through these situations? And how else would the plot move forward when it's centered on his sensitivities?

I can see how this makes sense for the upcoming character that hasn't been introduced, but so far it seems legit to me.

That's why I called his relationship with Tsubasa an organic part, because it was by his choice that he got involved with her, and she, quite realistically, had her own circustances as to why she did what she did.
But:
The blonde girl just so happen to walk into the same cafe Tsubasa and Kaede were having a date in
Kaede's bros just so happen to have been around to comfort Kaede when Tsubasa did what Tsubasa does
Kaede just so happen to overhear the argument between the asexual classmate and his girlfirend without benefits, which led to the conversation about normalcy, which became the theme for the following chapters
Kaede just so happen to walk into the cafe owned by an extremly patient lady with her own baggage of drama and ideas of normalcy
And, well, what's about to happen

3. Some fucking ex-machina character shows up to introduce dumbshit drama and fucks everything up
4. MC relapses
5. Repeat 1-4 until nobody watches this shitass manga anymore
