Sanae did mentioned she was targeted by the ranger. Is it something related to Chidori? Either way, he still hasn't quit ranger and won't just let it happen.

Looking through that flashback, I can't help but begin to wonder if the original Akabane Sousei was actually just a normal dude who became an actor for the show version of the Dragon Keepers.

Then, during the invasion, maybe he became the first real Red Keeper, but died and the Sousei we know is just one in a line of clones created afterwards and implanted with the original's memories to give the Keepers some form of continued legitimacy.

And the sociopathy comes from the disconnect between the original Sousei's memories and the programming that Ryuujin (probably) implanted to keep him in line. And/or make him believe he is Red Keeper as he appeared in the show.

Just to clarify for myself and to confirm it with others, there are three Red Keepers. The first was ambushed by D and killed and the second was betrayed and replaced with the third. The Sousei we look at now is likely the first, having miraculously survived. The Pink Ranger here has probably mistaken him for the second, however.

Seeing Pink Battalion again, it makes me wonder if the first Pink Ranger was killed by them. We know that she was assassinated in her own home where she had her guard down and it's easy to guess that the Rangers were responsible, but we still don't know who did it. Most likely Yellow is involved, considering he had control over the Pink Battalion despite not being the same group.

Outside of being a mafia boss, he's probably not that bad of a dude. Pretty bad but not like abusive or anything. I'm just guessing

Unlikely. Amnesia Sousei is most likely the second one. Two chapters ago they said he'd been with Sanae for 6 months - the exact amount of time that has passed since the second Sousei was blasted off that bridge.

And technically, we don't even know that he's the second. It's possible that the one D killed wasn't the original either.

The amnesia is a pretty common plot point in fiction, esp for former antagonists, but I'm seriously enjoying it here. I guess because the execution is solid; Red was a well-kept mystery throughout the series despite his presence, and now we're learning about Sousei at the same pace that he's learning about himself.
