I dont know why I keep reading this to be honest, almost every single character is super annoying. I guess the main villain is interesting so far.
I mean, Lyle is still pretty okay when he gets serious and seems like he could overcome his problems. The problem is his ancestors and how much dialogue they have, mainly the oldest one with black hair, it's just the start but the story is making him pretty hateable.

Agreed. As it is, Lyle has had so little screentime compared to his ancestors that he hasn't had the chance to actually be a character.

MC is fine, interesting even. Villain is a hateable piece of shit. Ancestors (especially #1) are incredibly hateable pieces of shit. The fact they invade and slow the plot to a crawl and also drain MC of mana stopping him from progressing the plot and asserting himself to an acceptable level is insufferable.

I think by maybe chapter 17 - 20 some of those issues should be resolved the person adapting this from the LN or whatever should have trimmed the role of the ancestors or perhaps reshuffled how we engage with them, they really drain the enjoyment from the actual plot happening.

Summarizing the series in ten seconds:

It would be a much different situation is the title was like, Third or Fourth.

I only recently finished up the WN after having read all the volumes of the light novel, which is currently on hiatus. This is probably my favorite series from the author and I'd love to see it adapted into an anime.

But I'm just not feeling the manga. Not sure why that is.

am i the only one that is actually enjoying the ancestors discussion?
ceres aswell
If they could in any way interact with the real world, even if it was possessing MCs body I'd probably be fine with it. They are perhaps the perfect encapsulation of an audience given too much consideration.

The artist actually cut down the ancestors’ dialogues a lot.
In the LN, they actually criticized him harshly after every single thing he did.
Author also admitted he got a lot of complaints about it when he wrote the WN.
I’m glad the artist took notes and reduced their rants.

Also, The Fifth deserves a break here.
He actually talks the least among the ancestors and he only opens his mouth when it matters. He doesn’t casually chat.

That's crazy. Tbh in a LN or WN format it'll be much breezier but we're losing shitloads of panels to them in the manga especially when it's releasing in parts. Even a Fortnightly 24 page series would get weighed down, it must just be a nightmare to adapt.

Honestly I think they should've cut the amount to 3 and expanded it over time or something, I'm tempted to browse the JP comments and see how it's received. The brisk pace of the intro makes it all the more painful.
