And you are free to do so. But try not to sound entitled. And really, it's hard not to, most the scannies are doing this shit for free on their free time. And just as you are free to call them out, I'll call you out for sounding like an entitled child.

I disagree, no one talks in third person in English. It sounds unnatural. And for me, panther fucked up on page ten. The "wabub" fits better than the "hmphh" (which makes no sense and sound so much less cute)
I unironically have a friend who starts talking in third person after drinking or when super tired. Doesn't sound unnatural at all.

There is also a set history with Setsu Scans and them doing kinda shitty things, but inconsistently. I've seen some manga they translate have regular releases on MD before uploads stop, only for you to have to find their site in order to continue reading (or read at all, they have also deleted all their chapters for a manga before). However, I don't know if it's just Setsu as a whole, or parts of it, as I currently read and have read a couple of theirs that are steadily translated and were done to completion.

We aren't entitled to shit (we're here to read pirated manga for free), but it's not unreasonable to expect some courtesy. A "hey, we're pretty swamped so releases for this may be slow", or a temp pass-off to someone else to keep uploads steady, and so forth aren't unreasonable in the name of growing the available index. Even a sudden situation could get a "thx to the ones who translated while we were unable to, here's our versions".

When your user base and community relies on good will and skirting the legal line, it's best to avoid doing shitty things and maintaining a positive work ethic. Past actions from Setsu include the whole gamut from positive to negative, but the positives from my experience have been "uploads consistently" and the negatives have been "deletes chapters to make you go to their site" (which can have bad consequences for a user).

1 montth is not a very long hiatus, no one knows whats going on behidn the scenes, chapters can be "done" but the redrawer/ type setter is unavaialbe cause theyre in cabo, coem back and finisht heir backlog
if it was 3 montths who gives a shit, but having a meldown over one month hiatu of fan translation pirated comics is juvinile
I Agree. I'm reading this stuff for free anyways so I can't even complain when a group ghosts completely without a word. I will be disappointed, yes, but after reading fan translations for years I grown to accept its part of the package I accept.

I will say that criticism of horrible translations (i.e. awkwardly bad English, slop work, or original meaning completely corrupted into something else like some "professionals" have been wont to do) is completely fair. At that point its an insult to the reader for wasting their time.

Constructive criticism, oth, can be a good thing if its simply meant as feedback or to help the translator improve their effort.

As a (retired) scanlator myself, I'm fully on this side of this argument:

How do you determine how demanding scanlating a series is? I've only ever done proofreading so I have limited knowledge so just genuinely asking
I'm just going off vibes to be honest. The chapter's aren't particularly long in comparison to other series and I don't think there's too much hard to translate wordplay. I've never done scanlating, so I could be totally off the mark, but it feels weird that this has so many groups collaborating when you take that into account.

I could be misremembering wasn't this the series they mentioned they weren't continuing as it was getting offical local release.
I can understand holding back release if that was the case (as annoying as it is for how long it will take for offical to catch up)

Seems like you need to read my comments again, I had no problem with the so called month long hiatus.

Pathetic as fuck for not dropping a chapter for a month but then immediately drop two when someone else starts translating
Our lors and savior Nyarlathotep has granted us with the miracle of sniping, all hail lord Nyarlathotep!
:kek:

Yeah looking at them both. I can now see how localized this group is. The new group does it better. Reina had a cute mode where she talks in third person when she’s drunk. But this group removed it completely
Talking in third person is the Japanese way of speaking like a little child. But not everyone speaks enough Japanese to know that. So a good translation will render that as child-talk in the destination language instead of stupidly sticking to Japanese grammar, especially when, in said destination language, talking in third person isn’t cute at all but rather shows haughtiness.
:pout:
