I thought the author had something good going on here, but it was a simple brainwashing instead. It looked like the faces were only interpreting of what they should look like, and the dolls copied their mannerism, both only acting and becoming of what they think is expected of them. Social brainwashing like that would've been more interesting, but kinda hard to pull off since it takes a long, long time...

We saw what happened to Shirley, are we to assume Ram was killed too? They said they were disposed of but it's unclear still exactly what or who does it. For example with Shirley, what makes her wither away like that? I'm also interested in what's the end goal of this society. They all seem to just hang around all day on the same compound. Are they looking to just dominate others of their kind or is there a bigger scheme? Where's the money coming from to fund everything?

My theory is that the shadow people are the actual dolls. The faces are real people told they are dolls for their respective shadow to use. The shadows are "summons" created by the master, who are able to think independently, and to an extent function independently, but overall are only there to serve as a method to control the real people. How else could you explain how literally every shadow somehow has an exact clone "face". I know they say the manufactured them, but it is never shown or explained how or where.

The master is just brainwashing humans by making the believe they must follow their "shadow" which just act out the will of the master..

@Aeriandra ram is gonna be "a doll whose face you can't see" probably. Shirley is definitely the most suspicious one. It's obvious that her behaviour must have a reason to do. She maybe transfered her personality to her finger's living doll to hide her lack of power and avoiding attention. She deserved a plot play to assist kate in some way in background. With ram's amazing raw talent, it feel a waste to just disposed both of them. The rooms and authorithy that specifically just for "a doll with face you can't see" certainly one who should to look at
