Ah yes the “hair cut signifying character development”

TBH that would make for a great gag character where every time they need a power up, they cut or style their hair.
This could be taken to the extreme so that by the time they are bald they go into super sayin mode to grow long flowing locks.

Come to think of it this is probably why One Punch Man is bald and so well developed as a character.

Long hair is apparently hard and time consuming to draw, and to keep doing it consistently... then you see the cut/tied up hair later in. It's probably a more common occurrence when you're both the author and the artist.
