To copy or emulate other recent series where a total loser, milquetoast wimp of a guy miraculously (and I do mean miraculously) is befriended by, or actually in a relationship with, an outstanding girl who, in real life, wouldn't give him the time of day? Is the intent to see how many different circumstances the mangaka can come up with to show how insufficient and ineffectual a boyfriend the MC is? Seems like it to me.
