Not sure if you're joking or not. Then again, you're probably not the first one to try to relate that fantasy setting to the real world. There was an article written about it. Maybe you read that one and believed it?

The thing with the real world is that "races" don't exist. Racism and its consequences does, but not races itself.

There are no comparisons - modern orcs and goblins are based on Tolkien and/or Dungeons and Dragons lore. And these were then based on interpretations of folklore and mythology, often creating distinct variations of the same monster (e.g. orc, ogre, troll) just to fill up a monster roster for the sake of entertainment. In the very classic depictions of monsters, they are all supposedly evil. It is perhaps series like Dragon Quest and Warcraft that monsters are portrayed in a more relatable way and are .

As for Goblin Slayer itself, it just heavily plays on classic JRPG tropes (which are then based on Dungeons and Dragons). The basic premise is that one of the most mundane monsters, the goblin, is something that shouldn't be neglected.

@BalrogDeMorgoth That's an entirely different thing than the "this is evil/is this evil?" thing. In fact, a large part of why we bother with that has nothing to do with the morality involved, and everything to do with how the consequences might inconvenience us down the road, so there's arguably selfishness involved in our little god complex as a species to keep track of this stuff whether we're lowering a population or preserving one. Most people don't have a problem with the idea of making disease carrying mosquitoes go completely extinct because it's "evil" to do that on purpose, but some people do have concerns about how it might impact the ecosystem.

But after all the progress we've done with Warcraft, modern editions of Dungeons and Dragons and stories like Reincarnated as a Slime, Goblin Slayer's return to portraying sapient humanoids with the wrong skin color as evil incarnate sure smells like racist propaganda with a dash of gore porn.
Yes, anime does have political views, that reflect the author's views in some manner. One of the things I love anime and manga for is, their political views are often in tune with mine.

Anyway, Goblin Slayer "returning" to classic goblins is its way of trying to be unique. There has already been plenty revisionist portrayal of JRPG monsters including those from the Dragon Quest series which is what brought the old DnD lore to Japan in the first place. Dragon Quest portrayed friendly monsters as early as 1992 (10 years earlier than Blizzard's Warcraft 3), so you could imagine already that the market and literature already had plenty of revisionist monsters by 2016. Later monster portrayals increasingly have zero substance and are only meant to fill the monster roster. This made the low level goblin to be extremely mundane. Goblin Slayer gave it a twist and made goblins fearsome and evil again basically. The extreme violence in the earlier parts of the story are meant to shock the reader and set a tone of horror.

It's really not as profound and complicated as you think.

I think trying to insist that this has racist propaganda probably makes you just as guilty of racism. Why are you so particular about that? Also, "wrong skin color"? They're goblins - they're practically a different species. Goblins also don't exist. I get that you might have empathized with revisionist monsters from other stories, but those have their own lore and world-building.

point a conservationist at an invasive species and there will be carnage, as well there should be. life, in itself, is not particularly sacred. When a species destroys an ecosystem's balance, it's a problem and can result in the destruction of multiple species and sometimes the entire ecosystem itself. Culling is another thing, but that's population control, which was already mentioned

tl;dr good and evil are artificial moral constructs that can be adjusted to fit someone's rationale. real life humans can, and absolutely do, kill pregnant females, babies, and family units. losing balance means losing everything else.

but also, authors often add these things to get people to think a little

Trying to compare real life animals, to fantasy monsters which adventurers need to have an adequate divine protection to fight, is the epitome of foolishness.
In such cases, security and control would be paramount. Also the author may have wished for his readers to think about this OR most simply to work on his characters growth.

Furthermore, you gentlemen should remember that the foundation of philosophy, and thus one might argue that the very foundation of sound reasoning, is the ability the listen (not just hear, nor read, mind you) to the ones who disagree with you.
