I think it's because the author did not want to waste another chapter ordering the thing from Amazônia, waiting for the delivery, etc. It's way easier to have a friend who carry a fingerprint kit on their purse, right? Wait, you don't have one with you right now? Shame...

I got the impression Mahoro has been keeping the last one in an extra plastic bag layer since the earlier case.

Considering how short the chapters are, I think it's a reasonable length.

thats assuming none of their fingerprints happen to be on top of rio's fingerprints, they'd also all need to take impressions and then compare and then also need a way of getting rio's prints to check.
even if they confirmed it for themselves it was rio who put the bag there it's not exactly good evidence if they try to submit it for a divorce because she could make up a defense like "they asked me to hold this bag, I don't know why" and claim they tampered with it for an explanation why her prints are on that bag.
but that's the realism side of things
