Now that I think of it, a lot of Prog rock had horn sections too.
A shitton of keyboard synths too.
Some sort of Jazz Fusion Prog Rock?
Fusion Prog?
Is it Progressive Metal? Progressive PUNK? Punk...Jazz???
Some sort of progressive surely.

Subaru is a good character. A driven, intense, toxic, yet highly capable foil to the gentle Honda. It's the right spice to kick the gang back into shape

Something about her idealism and principles that's just impossible to hate despite the unkind methods.

Remember it's Hendrix on the guitar, it can't be ska. Always thought they're playing fusion, somehwere between rock, funk and jazz. It's hard, they have too many mismatched pieces, Hendrix on guitar, punk singer, brass section and even the keyboard player does hits instead of synths/backgrounds...
One reason I'd love to see this get an anime, even though I usually don't watch anime, is that I'd love to hear what exactly their music is supposed to sound like. Because it is as you said, they're all over the damn place, to the point where you can't exactly point at a real life band and go "probably sounds like that". Maybe Morphine?

Morphine is minimalist, they don't even have a guitar. My best guess is around something like this:
, hits most of the buttons and is easy to shout intstead of singing. Still propably not it, they have too many main characters in the band :)

I think their sound would probably be closest to some sort of midpoint between Jefferson Airplane, Geordie Greep and Sandinista era The Clash

Bit surprising that this got purged. With all the licensing concerns there's basically no shot of this getting an official translation.
