Yeah, honestly that was the first time I considered dropping it, seemed like just random desperate fanservice to keep readership, serves very little purpose in the story so far.

And I'm fine with fanservice and if this disguise was a completely different character then I would be fine with it, but considering his identity has already been found out then what's the point?

This bullshit was drawn for a useless long time.
Even with the guy having 2 power users as bodyguards.
And the girl is literally retarded, this scene was only made to show her finally doing what she didn't in the past, with no change on the outcome, only herself feeling better.
MC whole fake death plan was for nothing, and the guy deciding to check his house for cores is dumb too, as they are used as currency it was most likely MC already had used them or hid them somewhere else.
In the novel it was more straight to the point, in the manga they wanted to make a drammatic chapter, that came out bad.
MC wasted points on faking death instead of killing a bully that pushed multiple people to suicide.
Oh yeah, another point that really makes clear how this whole thing was forced on the redone story, power users have no reason to follow a bully with a gun in a ruined world, even they talk about that.
