I.....think this was the correct way for Wakaba to handle Komaki. Komaki obviously loves her, but has twisted that love into "hate", borne of possessiveness and jealousy and anxiety over being left (at least how I interpret it all).
So Wakaba fully facing her and forcing Komaki to this point seems like the only way to break that pattern and bring the truth to the surface. And it's not like Wakaba doesn't want Komaki, either - she had her own twisted perception of all of this, caught up in Komaki's perfection and her own "inferiority".
Once Wakaba could be honest with herself, I think it was only a matter of time for them both. So props to our heroine for finding that center and sticking to her guns, here.

Komaki's "threats" and "bets" are always like that; they seem like something restrictive but with many ways for Wakaba to slip through if she really wanted. This entire game they've played has had many outs for Wakaba but she doesn't want them and she's finally being honest about that.

like I so so soooooo want them to get together, and then for us to get to see them interacting as a couple for a volume or two
but it totally has the vibes of a story that will have the serialization end once they confirm their feelings and officially get together

I think there's a chance that it could continue on, if the intent is for Komaki to address the twisted version of love and attachment she holds for Wakaba, and they both try to "transmute" that into something healthier for them both that sees them both happier and more fulfilled in the long run.

Plus, there's the potential entanglement of the best friend that likes Wakaba, that could pose as a "Komaki has to prove she's a good fit for Wakaba" that could eat up some additional narrative.

Basically, there's enough stuff to say "the story's not ending yet" that I'll be optimistic about there not being an ax, up until we get confirmation one way or the other.

I still feel bad for wakaba for having to go through all this but maybe by the end komaki will finally turn into a halfway decent person. Not that shes done anything to deserve it, but im a sucker for happy endings
