This series definitely has my interest immediately. A mystery hook, politics, interesting characters, lovely art. Honestly makes me want to check out other things written and drawn by the people working on this while waiting for more.

I knew Ratoseh was suspicious from the start, or at the very least he had plenty hiding behind his playful expressions. In chapter 1 alone he spoke his native language, Kabal, and Archaic (or rather Forenoi), so it was clear that they would hold importance in this story that has such a focus on the differences of cultures.

I cannot begin to tell you how much of a relief it is to have got the typesetting/fonts vaguely right in chapter 1 - I did a bit of a double-take when Ratoseh's dialogue font unexpectedly, and I was very relieved to note that I hadn't completely screwed up so early in the series...

(I'm still not entirely sure I have Johannes's accent right; I think he spent most of chapter 1 screaming his head off in Kabal, but all his dialogue is in bold, and he's not speaking with the same accent as Ionel despite both of them sharing Rosmetian as a main language I think? Volume 2 has some very helpful linguistic charts in to clarify who speaks/understands what, but obviously we've not got that far...)
