While personally I’d like for them to have mutual feelings, and I expect that to happen eventually, what I feel should’ve happened from the start is trying to have more of a serious talk with her about things and trying to figure out some options. They’re linked together to the fault of eachother to some extent, I don’t see much point in playing tricks on eachother like kids rather then trying to actually do something about the issue.
Something like what, let me repeat myself? "Okay, let's just casually ignore the fact that our species have been at war for god knows how long, the fact that we've tried to kill each other, and all the nonconsensual and humiliating sexual encounters"?
When I hear such calls for characters to behave like adults, I suspect their authors haven't really seen what adults actually behave like.
I think because their archenemies they shouldn’t be playing childish tricks on eachother, clearly that does nothing to really fix things long term.
Newsflash: enemies are rarely predisposed towards fixing things between themselves, or most other forms of cooperation and reasonable discourse. Shocking, I know.
Literally what adult would get forced a situation with someone they hate and their idea is just to be sexual with her about it to show some kinda weird dominance, he clearly doesn’t fear he or something, he’s just playing tricks on her since he’s upset like a kid.
If you recall, it was established he has no real reasons to fear her because his death would condemn her to torment, as a part of the blood curse. His position of her pretend-husband, whom their children expect to see regularly and in good health, further ensures his well-being.
And yeah, them playing tricks on each other is childish and petty. Adults are often childish and petty, that's normal.
Would you have preferred a story where he'd be perpetually confined to a dungeon, tortured half to death? Yeah, it would've been more realistic, but would it have made for better entertainment?
While you didn’t comment on it, back in my original post I also mentioned how full of himself the protagonist is which I feel is what’s causing a lot of it, like he thinks he’s some big wig
Could be because he's some big wig: the largest human state's celebrity most successful dragon slayer? As established in... chapter number one?
This! 100% It feels like the MC is a fucking teenager. Being annoyed by the consequences of his own actions, then having the gull to be mad when he fucked her life up. He's a weasel who wanted to curse her out of pettiness because he lost a battle.
When she was about to torture him to death.
Of course, none of this actually matters, but it feels really weird how everyone acts. It's fine to like it, but don't try to paint it as the pinnacle of story telling. It's just dumb fun. With rape undertones? idk, man.
I won't try to pretend this manhua is anything but lighthearted entertainment, but I'll note it might be a good idea to keep track of the plot before you voice opinions on it.
