In this next chapter, "The Conclusion of the Sword's Peak 2: Redux; The Director's Cut," Susanoo will reform his body and now he'll be invisible Susanoo and then Souji will be pushed back, and it'll look like he's close to losing, but then he'll activate all the dojutsu and be able to see Susanoo and then he'll kill Susanoo again.

This fight is what they mean by "kill your darlings"

This manga was always a gimmick but at least the first over the top fights were somewhat fun and the goofy matchups were something to look forward to. But this has progressed way too slow, clearly the usual editor bullshit to extend publication & then it will abruptly end when popularity decreases, overextended story with no conclusion, many such cases

Isn’t this super bad for all future fights? Now the gods HAVE to win the next couple of rounds and all of the suspense has been removed.
Not necessarily. Since there are 13 rounds, the first to reach 7 wins will win the tournament. The score is tied at 5-5. So humans or gods can win Round 11. The problem is whichever side wins Round 11 will have to lose Round 12 or else Round 13 will not happen, unless the author drops the rounds idea and turns it into a battle royale or prematurely ends the tournament to focus on the Siegfried or the Primordial Gods plotline.

There's also the possibility of a draw if both contenders die at the same time. Honestly, I thought that was where this was headed.

My personal expectation at this point is a round 11 draw, then round 12 will end with gods in the lead, round 13 will end with humanity actually losing in a twist end but before humanity's final judgment the the meta plot with Valkyries comes to a head and interrupts leading to gods and humans teaming up against a new foe which will make the gods appreciate humanity again despite their loss. Feels appropriately shounen.

Idk how it was but it truly felt like not there for me which sucks.
Because Souji only means anything to samurai historians. Objectively he does not belong in the same conversation as King Leonidas, Hercules, Jack the Ripper, Adam, Buddha, Telsa, etc. Those individuals and their legends are known across the world (at least, certainly beyond their respective countries of origin). No one in North America or Europe who isn't the biggest mall samurai knows who Okita Souji is; hell, Miyamoto Musashi has more global recognition than Okita Souji. This entire fight was just GLORIOUS NIPPON self fellatio.

I wish it would've been a more high-paced, dirty, complex and confusing sword fight with real nice choreography to make full use of the artists capabilities. Why did a sword fight between two master swordsman end up being so turn based? And what's with Susano'o relaying on such simplistic power moves when his story is all about wanting to learn about the intricate, beautiful human swordsmanship?

We've had some good stuff, like Okita ascertaining the range at which Ama no gaeshi would lose enough power to be deflected, just throwing his frikking sword in midair and Susano'o pulling off his iai even after being forced on the ground.

If only the moment Okita used Sword Time, burning his everything and drawing up even his future potential as a swordsman, Susano'o would've drawn upon his knowledge, realized the danger and forcefully absorbed his divine weapon to produce his hard to predict unarmed blade to have an chance of fighting back.

INSTEAD he, who spent half an eternity studying swordsmanship, looked basically clueless as he got overwhelmed. Within moments he had his divine weapon broken, while sustaining enormous damage himself, only to suddenly put together all the pieces to reach the "ultimate" answer. Finger gun...

And let's not forget, JUST BEFORE all of this, we've had our boi Buddha not just ask Odin the real questions, but also got some some juicy answers early, disrupting the ongoing fight. That made things worse. I bet at least some other where thinking: "Dayum!!! Whats next!?" only to be greeted by an excessively prolonged fight.

I'm probably talking out of my ass but man, I feel like it's kinda downhill since Jack the Ripper and Buddha matches.
