You know ... with all the demon-related stuff we've seen in manga today, ecchi or otherwise, I can't help but think there's a bit of truth to that. That's not gonna stop me, of course, but it really puts what you've read up to now into perspective.They see it as some kind of spiritual contagion. In their eyes, merely seeing or being exposed to them can corrupt the spirits of their children or tempt them into evil.
I just feel like we should specifically say conservative protestant Christians. My Catholic Relatives didn't go crazy, and none of my Jewish relatives or any of the ones I know were that crazy. Though I mostly know reform Jews, given that that's the religion of the household I grew up in, it wouldn't surprise me if the Orthodox community got their panties in a twist.Normal 'Murican stuff with their tiny religion-addled brains
