Copy pasting what i read on reddit regarding the additional clause when a chapter is uploaded. Is this seriously the case?

Someone already confirmed that chapters can still be uploaded w/o any additional steps. But if there were any DMCA issues, the series uploader will be fully accountable.

So, if things were blown out of proportion and the uploader somehow got called to court or whatever, it would no longer be due to unauthorized publication alone, as they might also be charged with false representation of authority.

Since MD will no longer protect the scannies, they can simply give out the uploader’s or group’s info to the rights holder should it be found that the uploader doesn't fulfill no. 3.

Because of this, many large groups with little anonymity might steer clear of MD altogether, which will reduce future uploads on the site.
That’s how cease and desist works.

Thank you so much for the update, I couldn't wait for the tag filter to arrive!
Now finding new manga that interests me is much easier and faster, being able to exclude genres/themes that don't interest me.

Is there also a possibility of filtering by demographics in the future?

thanks, I guess this is goodbye
Yeah, I tried looking at the difference between a dmca request and a cease and desist, but my interpretation is that they’re basically the same, just that dmca is faster and well established.

Y’all, we have the internet, publishing companies do surveys. If we don’t say anything at all so that they know we want shit they’re never going to do it. [...] Anything is better than fucking over artists.
I'm not gonna beg for the poor publishers to take my money. Either they make a service im satisfied with or i'll pirate. Steam made me stop pirating games, so it's not impossible.

Things that I'd give an 8 out of 10 and probably not re-read likely wouldn't get a buy from me. That's technically lost money on the part of the publisher
If you weren't gonna buy it anywhay then it's not lost money.
If i pirate the author gets zero money, and if i don't buy the author gets 0 money, therefore the author is not losing anything if i pirate.

Honestly, seeing as how all bets are off(with the whole checkmark thing), I hope uploaders actually get an option to delete their accounts and especially their upload history.

If MD is going full handsoff out of the blue they can't just keep denying people their account deletion requests on grounds that there isn't an elegant solution available, it's now no longer a small privacy concern but a very real liability.

You can delete your uploads yourself. They’re most likely already scraped by most aggregators.

I‘m suprised this is such a big deal for so many. Most of the manga I follow I read the official rips on weebcentral or comick or batoto. I think only Kingdom I read on MD.

Then again, I don‘t read all that Isekai, twitter shorts, pedo trash. Maybe that‘s why.

btw disappointed by the amount of people going "Oh I wish there was a subscription/less scammy subscription service, then I'd be okay paying for it" and my brother in christ are you asking to rent books instead of owning them ITYOOL 2025? Shameful bootlicking.
Manga/Anime aren't like video games, they don't usually hold rereadability. If possible, people would much prefer a subscription option that allows them to pay once (cheap), read the entire series they like to the end, then unsub. We're already able to buy books anyway (albeit expensive), but I'll be damn clear: I stopped buying on Amazon as soon as they push that strong DRM BS onto us that makes backing up Kindle ebooks impossible.

DMCA is such a stupid thing. So to sum it all up pretty much no one is allowed to post them except the official publishers/sites?
I call BS on that one, its like NFTs all over again.

Lots of good series that have been axed because of low sales could've avoided this if people just bothered supporting the stuff they like.
If i remember, people do managed to save a series like this not long ago from axing.

So you've never reread a manga series. Ever in your life.

Sure.

Anyways, the rest of the world wants to own things they pay for, and crying about DRM when that literally exists because companies wanted to be sure you never actually own something is hilarious.

Something that I remembered, don't mangadex sometimes struggle with money and ask for donations because of that? Cause if yes then no way the site will last long with so many people abandoning it after the purge.
