Comeso (the one supposedly behind this dmca) is known for dmca'ing fan artists too, there were a few cases in the past, both on Twitter and Youtube, users who received dmca notices and strikes respectively.
I'm not talking about fan art or doujinshi, I'm talking about original content like 'Bear & Bunny Rabbit Can't Be Friends' or 'Spirited Away By The Rain Woman Yokai' or 'The Story of a Succubus Who Came to the Human World'

Granted, most of the Twitter/Pixiv manga I've come across are fluffy transparent bait for likes with stories that don't go anywhere and the author can drop them at any time, or they're proof of concepts for serialization that get dropped after 10-15 4 page chapters, but any port in a storm...

Someone made a tool to extract your library ( not sure if reddit links are allowed but I don't care at this point.)

Just follow the instructions, it's pretty simple. I used it 20 minutes ago. You can then import the file in Excel or similar software.
That worked, now i hope there will be a new alternative to this site soon

Welp, the site is dead. Thanks for the memories. Wish the staff are more open about this. I won't know what happened if I don't check this thread. News as big as this deserved official announcement.

Most of aggregator sites that I know are still scraping chapters from this site, so I will still hang around a bit to check for updates. Once the aggregators have better algorithm, then I will leave this site for good.

NamiComi owns MangaDex now, it was fun while it lasted.

Also, if I remember correctly, the owners said in a blog post a few years ago that their goal was to become legit like Crunchyroll/Fakku, so I guess the writing was on the wall the entire time.

The entire industry went at them at the same time, what did you really expect them to do. Batoto apparently got sued for 1.3 billion yen, do you think Mangadex can handle that?
Well some piracy sites certainly handle it by being smart enough to host in places that can ignore DMCA.
Nothing more useless than a cowardly pirate GGs
Nah, real issue isn't that, but the fact that Mangadex wasn't doing something wrong right, in this case host stolen content.

Having a site like this in a place where you have no choice but to obey DMCA is like selling stolen merchandise in front of the store from where you stole, it was never going to end well, we simply got lucky it lasted this long.

The next most likely to be scanlation hub is hosted in SEA, so we’ll see how it goes I guess. DMCAs and cease and desists mean nothing there until the industry puts some money in some big official’s pocket. Corruption will be the bane of that place after a while most likely.

At least it takes years or decades for corruption to be the bane of those places, and many times next people are just as bad as previous one :v

Mangadex after they go legit:
"Guys our library is finally legal!
You can check out our collection without worry!"

The collection:

Disagree them being a cartel, since with a normal Cartel you will get something from them as long as you pay.
With manga, you can pay and get nothing in return; digital release from publisher.

Also up to 1,667 tittles removed.
I'm not talking about the rightsholders lol

Guess we can say this is an end of an era.
I wasn't wrong after all. It truly is an end.

~7000 series removed and not being openly transparent about being fully owned by Namicomi.

MD really wanted to be something like Crunchyroll for manga, but looks like it didn't work out and now it'll lose traffic and users as many big series have been removed from here.

NamiComi is just a site that the admins of mangadex created to accept payments in a way that's clean and not tied to mangadex. They didn't really sell it or give the site to anybody.

Does it matter how NamiComi started? Cause the facts are, simplifying things:

- NamiComi hosts original content

- "NamiComi has accepted to take management of the site and its domain"
Basically saying it's under new management

- "NamiComi has the necessary legal framework to move forward and ensure the long-term sustainability of MangaDex."
They'll do whatever is necessary so the site can legally stay active

- "We will continue working on the features that make MangaDex great, to make it an even better platform for content creators."
"content creators" is a very specific and important choice of words, by definition scanlation is not content creation, we're simply modifying someone elses work

Sorry but everything points that NamiComi will basically do what it must so the site has no legal issues, they're more or less a legit business, for them keeping stolen content is basically not a option if they want to legally make any kinda of profits and such, hell, even if they don't try to monetize Mangadex it doesn't change the fact that they're attached to a illegal business, in this case managing stolen material.

Just accept it dude, it's over, even if the site lasts a little longer I doubt it goes past this year, in part because the rats are jumping ship.

It matters because they are being deceptive about the nature of the change and how things have happened. They want to use mangadex and its userbase as a springboard to launch their new business venture, they are playing it off as though it was just a necessary move to give up their site to a business that has a legal framework to keep the site running.

They always intended on making this move and are using the recent DMCA takedowns as a way to justify it. It's way more malicious than how they are portraying it.

Oh, ok, I thought you meant something else, nevermind my previous post then lol

Although I agree they're possibly being deceptive in part due to the clear radio silence, I don't think they always planned this move, losing all series is just not good no matter how you paint it, so maybe they're just trying to salvage things and go full legit since they might feel they have no other choice.

It won't really help of course, who didn't use NamiComi before won't start now, but I guess that's how desperation goes.
