I wonder if the name "pousse-café" comes from the act of "pushing the café (=bar in french) in a contrary direction to what a cocktail is".

that manager is fuckin' useless isn't he? Her daughter are lost, he can't do anything about it yet, and he also did nothing with the influx of customers other than saying sorry to the customer

i do get that communicating with customers are HARD work, but the way he portrayed is... kinda bad(?)

@Duckiedoggo not really, in another sense he is the one who shield his employees from costumer complaint and keep the chaos to the minimum.

It's things like that which make me realize I could never deal with being a bartender. The customers. Regular customer service is hard enough.

Well, I'm more in the "everything sucks at this bar, 1/5" camp. The manager while not entirely useless at his job is a failure as a human being for not responding to a way more important emergency anyway. The bartenders willing to essentially cheat their customers variously fail at their job. The bar for being one of those overpriced holes that offer little in return fails anyway; but first complaining about no customers and then complaining about too many is just pathetic (although logically one might lead to the other as they are not used to so many customers anymore/there might be less staff). Also the customers are crap too, but I suppose that's just default these days. When you clearly can see that everyone's doing their best try being reasonable or just go elsewhere, come on.

So, yeah, everyone sucks in this.

Except Yuki, who does whatever she wants as always of course ;)

Well, truth be told as a father the manager clearly fails as a human being, that bar could be on fire and his daughter should and is his priority, that point isn't for debate.

But as a manager, i think he is doing well, sure the situation isn't much better since its start but there will be times in life that the worst possible situation happens in the worst possible moment ( here an enormous influx of client when they are at their weakest ) these types of events no matter how good is the person luck too has much weight on how things get resolved, at this point, i say that he kept his cool and some sort of control over his subordinates until his luck kicked in and some help came. This contrary on my first opinion is open for debate, i don't work on the service industry ( this type at least ) so my understanding is lacking.

Yes. That is EXACTLY how Japanese names split into syllables. Yes.

good to know that I'm not the only one find layered drinks a weird concept
There is absolutely no good way of drinking them at all lol, because you'll always get too much of one thing and too little of another part, making it taste like nothing nice

I feel like I missed something with the flow of the story. Did it switch from flashback to current time? Or is this all still immediately after Yuki got fired. It just seems odd for her to remark how “everything is still the same” if she had been let go only moments before, because of course everything would still be the same. That’s something you would say returning to a place after several months or years. It just seemed odd, and kind of throws off the flow of time...

Either way, they don’t know what they threw away. Makes me hope the manager happens across her cart someday so he realizes the opportunity he missed out on by being a shmuck.

So...what about the manager's daughter? Is that going to be addressed soon?
I get that he's in an unenviable hectic position right now, but I hope the author of this story doesn't forget to address this in the next chapter.
