My favorite take on the stereotypical bandit encounter was in the Jörmungandr isekai WN.

Spoiler: Encounter

Two guys who are entirely too reasonable for this line of work stop a small noble carriage. They notice the carriage’s plain state and decide it’s a noble facing exile who is probably more down on his luck than they are. They step aside to let it pass, and Jörmungandr (in tiny snake form) crawls out and tips them a gold.

I liked the early-mid parts like the one I quoted where he's interacting with normal people. The huge god-tier multidimensional fights take over in the later half and that's where I lost interest.

I'm pretty sure the brain is still there. And the marrow. Why would she eat the inside of the bones? The brain must still be there because she needs the brain to control the body.

I think she knew the whole time.

The typical manga plot made to make the readers think "just leave them to die for once!" only for the MC to do the same thing they ALWAYS do and save them and befriend them through some bullshit repentence/"I understand why you did it" drama...
Author crossing out the mandated trope situations already, doesn't bode well for future plot.
Would be nice with some manga where the plot stays interesting even after the first 20 pages. With chapters like this it's just "I hope there wont be too many filler chapters" and you read just one more chapter, and one more chapter...

You really kinda went off on a whole spiel there. But in this case your initial idea is off, since these clearly aren't actual bandits, but more like people playing bandits. And she knows it. And the reader knows it. So I'm not sure who's hoping she leaves them to die...

the slime is controlling the meatbag through the blood, the bone marrow would be actively opposing the slime as both a foreign substance and just trying to make more blood. the brain is also dead and replaced by the slime. we tend to think of the brain as a hemogenous lump but the majority of the cranial cavity is taken on by nerves, not brain.
