@kuroro86 Please, it wasn't even the whole chapter. This was a slightly short chapter befitting the fact that it's no longer exactly monthly. It took half of such a chapter to impart important information, information which will not be elaborated at least to this extent again (and instead of your speculation, this is based on how such info has been treated in this manga so far). The chapter then took another half explaining Kumoko's worries and anxieties, from the fact that another Reincarnator (and this one specifically too) has it easier than her, to her parallel wills not being parallel. Things which will also form the basis of her future character. Even the Vampire info, it's from Kumoko's perspective which is also a key point. It's forming the basis for how she perceives and thinks about the System. It's not just exposition for exposition's sake.
You say I should not criticize those who don't like what I like, but that implies the stuff I am responding to is a matter of "like". It's all more the kind of "this is bad, this sucks", a universal criticism. I am perfectly happy to point out that that is indeed what the problem is, that this manga approaches the series in a way some people may not like. That should not give them carte blanche to declare that the writing is poor.
@Oeconomist And therefore, on the topic of said style, you're actually contradicting yourself right there. You say that the adaptation needs to be structured with awareness of the schedule of release. Isn't it? This series now roughly comes out quickly than a month. The vast majority of readers in Japan of this web series have already either read the WN or LN, because it's just that popular. The people who only read the manga, likely discuss this series with people who have, much like how even this comment section is, only more pronounced. Therefore this manga needs to offer something different from the novels, while also imparting as much of the same degree of information, in a way that also suits the legacy readers.
So isn't it already structured properly with the situation in mind? Releasing roughly fortnightly chapters to this structure. There is no overtly painful wait for the next chapter, versus novel release schedules. There is the bare minimum of exposition still in place. There is a visual sparkle applied to what was merely written before. It is all of those things.
But hey, half the people here don't even realize it's not a monthly anymore, even as they read it the moment it pops up on their feed. If they can't even keep track of even that time, how would I expect them to offer any good criticism of the manga's structure?
And for the record, when I talked about leechers, I am not commenting on the value of fan translations. I do personally agree it helps the industry, and I am also one of those who buys licensed works after I read them online. But while there are others like us, there aren't many compared to the number of people who just leech. In combination with what I said above about the target audience, what I can't stand is this group criticizing a series that is 1. Not meant for them and they refuse to acknowledge it, 2. that they have no intention of supporting no matter how good it is, and 3. can't even keep their basis from criticism, such as release schedule, factually correct. I find it reprehensible enough that I have no issue calling people out as leeching ingrates, only tempered with the knowledge that such leechers ultimately have no real impact on this series.
