This site needs upvotes and downvotes to comments, i need to see a lot of those hidden, some are a complete waste of time. But i also want to upvote good comments, not necessarily the ones that are in line with my way of thinking.

The only thing i don't like about this chapter is that she let some of those fuckers get away... Now they will probably bring more people to try to kill her.

@kilisloe if they were a danger, I am okay with killing. But here, it's like mice trying to kill a wolf. It's annoying at worst. Hence, there was no need to go for the kill. At the start of the story, she wanted to contact humans, but she no longer tries -> her mentality has changed.

@criver That's why I said it won't be easy. Because no sane human would want to communicate with her. I just disagree with whoever said that Kumo could easily clear the misunderstanding with humans which I think is impossible in this situation.

For those who still think that communicate with human is her top priority. No, it's not. Her current main objective is to become stronger. This is why she decided to kill those humans when she realized that they gave a lot of exp. You may ask what causes this? I suggest to re-read chapter 30.1 It has a big foreshadow in it. What exactly does Kumo learn from Taboo Lv10? You should also pay attention to why Information in Charge gave a suggestion like that. Why did she think that it was a solution to the problem? This is still a mystery in manga. But it's clear that this knowledge causes Kumo to learn some hard truth about this world and it directly affects her mentality.

About big spoiler,
well, it's in the first chapter. Her speculation about being a ... with implant memory is correct.

It's incredible how I need to post the same comment again because there's people who don't get it yet.
Oh boy where do I start? First this
muh special trait removes guilt
Yes "merciless" has something to do by removing her sense of guilt but in case you don't know "All that world is contructed on the idea of killing", all skills are battle oriented (skills like smithing or mining don't exist) and what's the direct poison to the whole idea behind that world? "Mercy". That Title was created to help the system to work as it was in designed.

Seven Deadly Sins and Seven Holy Virtues skill sets
Both skill sets are forbidden by the church on the human world, can you guess why?
Those are powerful (cheat) skills that
use your soul rather
than MP as source of energy, but even worse those skills transform the mind of the user to be extremist with that character trait. Let's see what is the worst sin? Pride.
Anger and Rage are permited because the user can turn off the skill to stop the effect but if your turn off the Sins and Virtues skills it don't stop them to erode your mind.
Even the Demon Lord of Kumo's time didn't dare to take Pride knowing it's dangerous effects, one of them being that the user start to see monster and people as nothing more than EXP sack (wait that happened on this chapter ?).

And Kumoko attack to Mother isn't a normal attack she's using her divine area (which is partially an attack outside the system), so when the parallel wills absorb Mother's soul they're also obtaining part of her mind (hatred againist humans, demons, elves, etc.) and Heressy Immunity isn't going to protect her from the merge.

Kumo already have Heresy immunity to prevent further damage to her mind but it doesn't repair what is already done.

Kumo was bad (inmoral person) even before the reincarnation
Before the reincarnation Kumo was an antisocial girl with little to no empathy for anyone even her parent. And after the reincarnation she was more worried about her video game character than her parent. Even if she didn't killed anyone Kumo clearly showed the traits of a sociopath.
Let's see the symptom:
- Lack of empathy ✔ (No need to explain)
- Vision of distorted self-esteem (She's a hikkikomori with low self-esteem)
- Constant search for new sensations (She really wanted to be hit by those magics and the self-harm with her magic and thread)
- Dehumanization of the victims (The last scene with the monkeys, the execution of the seahorses and now this with the exp sacks)
- Lack of concern to the consequences (Taboo)
- Egocentrism (Not yet on the manga)
- Grandiose delusions (she's a hikkikomori but in her own words also a beautiful girl)
- High levels of impulsivity (the new idea of body-in charge that ended with the web on the lava and Kumo's butt on fire)
- Motivation for experiencing feelings of control and power (Not yet in the manga)
- Panic attacks (not yet in the manga)
- Schizophrenia
Oh boy what do we have here, Kumo shows almost all symptoms.

With all I have write is pretty obvious that the skills helped her to become what is know but also her moral compass was already broken since the start. Being a sociopath doesn't mean that she was marked to be a killer since the begining she was clearly inclined to commit immoral (or crimes) acts.

And again Kumo said a lot of things that the MANGA artstyle made look funny or as a joke, meanwhile in the novel it was clear that she was very serious.
Example

Most of the problems that the readers have in this comment sections are because the mangaka was given "creative freedom" and he decided to skip the Side Stories where the worldbuilding and most expositions are. Introducing plot holes and inconsistencies.
There's a male student that was reincarnated as a woman, during the story becomes very apparent that his (her) mentality is becoming more femenine little by little. This is something that the novel call "Soul Behavior", when a soul that hasn't been cleanned from it's past life is introduced in another body the soul will adapt to the new body and in this novel the soul is the source of everything that isn't physical (personality, behavior, etc). So if a man is becoming a woman, How do you think this would affect Kumoko? And because this is "Soul Behavior" and not an attack from the System, Heressy Immunity can't defend you from this.

Also this chapter is supposed to be told first with the Summoner POV and it really feels like a horror story from his perspective. Explaining why they were there, how was the travel and the summoner and elder mage personalities (especially the elder mage since he's a recurrent character and even has his own chapters).
3kdyPMb.jpg

It's pretty obvious that something really bad is going to happen when the chapter is called "The Nightmare of the Labyrinth". And the chapter was darker than this with the bird dying crushed with the Gravity Evil Eye, how the summoner was really sad (truly) about all his monsters and at the end with the summoner losing half of his body and the elder mage his left arm with the last Black Spear.

If you really want the spoiler between spoilers read this
She never was really a human before the reincarnation. Kumoko was a spider that lived on the classroom and the student she remember being (Wakaba Hiro) is D who was bored of managing the underworld and escaped from work to do whatever she wanted. When the classroom exploded she transported all students and the teacher to the other world and gave everyone a special skill, without noticing at first that sensei's skill (attendance list) showed every student name but her name. D decided to give the spider a fragment of her memories and soul to trick the skill, and always expected the spider to die quickly but when the spider survived aganist every odd it become her new favorite toy.

Kumo behavio can be also explained as spider behavior
* Hikkikomori = A house spider never leave her web
* No parent = Spider usually get separate from their parents right after they birth
* Doesn't want to relate to others = Spider are lonely creatures
* Lack of empathy = Spiders are natural hunters/murders
* And many more
This is why she doesn't have/remember most of her past life, she only have the school memories that D gave to Kumo to act as her decoy.

At last this story isn't Berserk levels of dark or comedic edgyness of other isekais but is far away from happy and light hearted as the manga show it.

You might want to put more spoilers, I don't mind but I am sure others do.
Thank you very much for the detailed explanation, it clarified everything nicely. I guess it's just poor writing on the side of the manga leaving so many open plot holes, it's probably mainly targeted at people who have read the novel. And reading these spoilers I realize that I had overestimated this manga a bit too much, holding it up to standards of actual literary works, when it's pretense seems to go only as far as teenage fanfiction. Definitely not meant for an in-depth analysis.

It's nothing and I agree with you that this manga is just not made for in-depth analysis. What the novels do better (Web and light) is foreshadow which isn't ground breaking but kinda cool how things that were said at the beginning of the story have conection with parts very later. It's not masterpiece but just a normal isekai that plays well it's cards.

The worldbuilding is one of the best parts when the story goes away from the dungeon. Unfortunately most worldbuilding pre dungeon escape is on the side stories.

Foreshadow
Do you remember that on chapter 1, one of Kumo's theories about her reincarnation was about her being a normal spider with the memories of a student? This wasn't revealed until Kumo Chapter 217 (in launch order is more or less chapter 400+)

You would think that the speed would be increased considering how popular this is and it's even getting an anime. It's not like they're pulling this story out of thin air, they're following the novel very closely and even cutting corners in some places. ... No offense intended.
