no matter how many times it's told I don't think the story about monsters and humans was that one sided. I bet my ass on it both sides fucked up hard, the monsters by having some groups actually attack humans and the humans by mistrusting all monsters.

@Weabooribs I won't deny social commentary is part of it (it always is) but pretty sure there is more to it, though I admit I mostly go by how monsters handle humans.
For being supposedly the peaceful party they take a special kind of glee in talking about how they want to divide a child for eating in front of it. Different species or no, I would assume a intelligent "peaceful" being would show some hesitation before making another sapient their dinner but they handle humans like some rare delicacy. I bet my ass on it some monster already ate humans back then which worsened the relationship with those that didn't (which didn't help that Humans distrust anything they don't understand).
Of course I can be completely wrong about this It's all my guess after all.

this isent an isekai tho, isekai as a genre is people who travel to another world.
this is just a fantasy story set in another world. no traveling to diffrent worlds included.
if all you needed for it to be isekai, was the setting to be in another world. then just about every fantasy would be an isekai.

Loving this series so far. Beautiful artwork, intriguing atmosphere, cute and heartwarming main characters, and the occasional intensity and action despite the happy feel of the story. One of those happy adventure stories with the dark undertone.

But geez, it was awesome when Papa went full on rage mode after Somali was taken. Shit was going down! Although, thinking back that was about to turn into a horrible torture/snuff doujinshi, and I can't help imagining it. Makes me ill just thinking about her screams of pain. Pity those bastards didn't get their rightful comeuppance, though, and I find it funny how I'd be fine if they got chopped to bits instead. Bastards.
