It's nice to finally see the root* of his inner turmoil come out. This feels like final boss territory.

I'm seeing some people complaining about the lack of communication. But... really? Expressing a feeling and having that feeling rejected is a central theme of the entire series. The cousin is the embodiment of MC's whole complex, for god's sake. Of course he can't just come out and say how he feels, especially when the feelings of disgust and rejection are embedded so deeply in his heart.

As for Marin, she's literally never felt like this for another person, and doesn't know how to process what she's feeling. She's afraid of the rejection, and not without reason. From her perspective, Gojou is constantly going from hot to cold. He's very closed off, so it's impossible for her to read his intentions. And they're both 15- not exactly the age for emotional maturity.

We can all forgive her since she was a kid back then, but ooh, saying that after his parents died. Not a good look for anyone past child age. She must've been carrying that guilt all along and that sucks for anyone.

I can see why he got "traumatized" and obsessed about Hina dolls after all that. And as a fellow artist, not feeling confident will make you tend to forget a lot of positive things, even stuff like his grandpa saying he was improving, doll making-wise, from the cosplay.

And about Marin... on top of lack of communication, of course a somewhat naive but kind girl is gonna start thinking like she forced him to put a hiatus on his doll making. Heck, if she knew from the start how important doll making was to him, I have no doubts she'd completely stop "pestering" him about cosplay.

And what's sad about all this is that we all know his grandpa would be happy with whatever path he chose.
