couldn't he just store the rope into his inventory?

This dude is a walking disaster.

Abandoning tested companion, setting out on his own, only to bring trouble to the one he abandoned.

Still, this is interesting so far.

To be honest that was some Elder Scrolls tier strategy. Imo, MC could have finessed those bandits really hard if he didn't get caught.

i think he could have run with the party while dropping some of his loot, accepting captured was a horrible idea

I get him telling the bandits about his ability so that they don't kill him.

The real braindead part is the bandits not leaving someone to keep an eye on him while knowing he has that ability.

I'm hoping that he gets crushed by the horses and gets reverse isekaied back to Japan where he can have his fill of onigiris and soy sauce for the rest of his miserable life!

This was dumb on so many lvls.

Negotiations:
What reason did he have that the bandits that just threatened his life would keep their word and keep him alive? He could lose all his stuff AND his life. He should have kept the inventory a secret trump card and handed over as much valuable stuff he could conceivably carry in that backpack. That plus his guards equipment, the deposit they left behind, and even the shirt off his back would have been enough. As long as they don't know about his inventory he could claim compliance and be giving up everything he had. What more could a bandit want? In the event things turn bad he could at least defend himself, or catch them by surprise.

The bandits thought process:
The bandits discussed keeping him alive for his ability as if he had joined their group. But he was being held against his will and would likely flee first chance he gets. And he now knows where their hideout is. This was very high risk with potential for high rewards assuming they could keep him from running and complacent enough to do what they want. If he ever ran they lose all their loot and have to relocate. Or kill him and just lose all their loot. The least risky thing to do would be to either loot everything and send him off when they first met him.
"He has storage? GREAT, we hit the jackpot; more loot! Leave it all there, and your clothes, and turn back. Maybe you'll die? Not our problem. WE let you live, the rest is up to you."

Or capture him, and sell him to a slave merchant.

the escape:
On his first attempt at a summon, he found that his summon:
1) could understand what he wanted from it.
2) The summon could wield the long sword he left in reserve of his inventory (just for this moment).
3) use it to cut his ropes.
4) Skillfully enough not to hurt him in the process.
5) While not waking the sleeping bandits.

Only to have woken them himself, carelessly, as he just starts to make his escape, and then shouting RUN FOR IT! To ensure that all the bandits wake and know what is going on.

And they somehow actually got away.

And as a twist of fate ex machina, he runs into the person he promised to leave with and abandoned for no good reason. Now she can help him escape! Or get rolled into this needlessly.

I only skimmed it as a raw, but the fact that he told them he has an item box is super dumb. Changed my opinion on this series for the worse

Regardless of what defense you make on him revealing the fact he has an item box, he could have easily just dropped some garbage rather than everything he had.
I still think he shouldn't have revealed it in the first place, unless they were seconds away from killing him.
