we still dont know why the empire is targetting serie, from a political point of view getting rid of her would be a step towards unifying the whole continent with the magic association gone they can march down south but that would leave their own territories a possible playground for stray demons. Another point is that they dont need to invade because they already have plenty of resource so that only leaves the likely reason that its a matter of ambition rather than necessity but knowing the author its unlikely that the author is going to turn this manga into a political charade with frieren, stark and fern getting caught up in it.
author throw us a bone here atleast, were gonna lose our mind theorizing the whole motive for this arc.

I figure it's because the author is helping out with production details for season 2. No way they aren't already working on it with how successful the first one was.
That's basically what everyone is expecting at this point, they just can't say anything about it since the second season hasn't even been announced yet.

Frieren... "it was all part of keikaku (keikaku means plan)".

I am furious with something here... do these fucks not stop to think about the consequences of their actions? Or feel even a little bit suspicious that some guy they didn't know about shows up commanding an unknown authority to command them to kill two of the most important people in the world?

There is being loyal... and there is being stupid... which one do you guys think these idiots are being?
truly the best keikaku (keikaku means plan)

This chapter was lowkey the worst chapter I've read in the series. Too many disposable characters I didn't give two shits about taking most of it with really heavy dialog to explain something we all already understood

Thr current arc had many subtleties. In short, there's an assassination plan of Serie and Frieren's were asked to be Serie's bodyguard.

The mage association didn't know how the plan will play out. So they send the psycho girl and sigma boy to retrieve the plan from their spy (yes, the association had their spy in the Empire and it seems the spy was the girl who caught the arrow with her teeth in this chapter).

Meanwhile, at the same time, Frieren's party were walking around the town to lure out the shadow warrior to prevent the assassination, or at least throw a wrench on the Empire's plan.
I do get most of what you're saying, thankfully.
But the whole politic talks back in the infiltration story and the ordeal of these currently-forgettable rag tag avengers team, those I don't get a full grasp on :nyoron:
Guess I'm not TOO lost after all :nyoron:

I really hope Serie survives and this is not the Death of the Hokage/Strongest Arc, because I think it might another occasion for her to grow. And when you have a character such as an overpowered immortal Elf, you take those, it's fascinating.

Serie defined this era by gifting Magic to humanity, and it took a big place in their society just like they 'paid it' back in kind by taking the discipline in a new and efficient direction. But the threat of those assassins show that overreliance on magic is dangerous. The hero party was balanced and only them defeated the greatest foe of their world, when here, save for Stark, all security and firepower is down to mages. Glass cannons, useless in close quarters.

Not only Stark can shine this arc but Frieren can also teach Serie the worth of good stronk bois like him 😤

Actually no, it did pop up in my recommended, I am subscribed to him but I haven't been in the mood for long essay videos recently so I left it to watch another time.

Is there something special about this one?
Actually, I've just watched the video before reading the chapter and there was the exact same meme as you wrote here. 😅 It was all according to keikaku (keikaku means plan) 🤣 My bad.

They seem to have overlooked Fern, which is surprising. Maybe because Fern lacks a reputation, and isn't outwardly recognisable as someone strong like Stark is. It's the first time Stark's open nature has worked against him though.

“Call Denken,” the voice said.

“I don’t have to call any—”

“Call him and ask him,” the voice said, “what you should do if you owe some money to an elf named Frieren.”
