That's popularity for you. There are often patterns you can see for who's more popular, but there are also often characters who don't play by any of those rules. I've seen one-scene characters be hugely popular.

Time-loops are difficult enough to do right as it is, but this one was done really well.
Showcased the Hero Party as-was, including their foibles and personalities, trod on the Feelz of the Fanbase while feeding them what they wanted ( ) , and set up expectations for the future arcs.

Damn, this was enjoyable..

as opposed to linie and the two male demons? i guess.. but frieren and fern? doubt. also I wonder if they have a character popularity contest in the anime since not a whole lot of characters are introduced yet but in manga, aura is completely btfo'd by hero of the south which has the same amount or even lesser screentime than her. only westoids adore her and knowing westoids, they will latch onto Solitar(one of my best girl) the second she is introduced.

As expected Himmel is not the hero for nothing, still massively strong even fighting blind.

Best part is that Himmel isn't the Hero, that's probably that monk wandering the wastelands, and Himmel still overturning all possibilities.

i know some people aren't big on time travel, but i really loved a lot of this arc, i love the old gang and i think this was a very nice, bittersweet way to put more of them in, and at the same time give Frieren further motivation to complete her journey to heaven.

If I was smarter I'd try to tie this into the story's narrative of magic only working through being able to work if you can picture the result, but I'll leave that to someone else.

isn't that already the case? it was explained during the First Mage Exam Arc with Ubel and the examiner with long hair. Ubel failed her first exam because she killed the examiner who wore a cape with so many spells on it it was supposed to be impenetrable. But she was just like 'it's a shirt, and a shirt is cut-able' so she cut it along with the examiner's body in half. as long as you can imagine that it's possible, it will be possible.

I also LOVE this mini time travel arc! I think this is the only way for us as readers to know what the Hero Party was like, without seeing it through Frieren's eyes or just hearing it from the tales and narrative of 'how they were supposed to be'. Even right now for Anime-onlys, many people depreciate Himmel as a Hero because of how strong Frieren is shown. Like they are convinced that Himmel/Heiter/Eisen were only support for Frieren's OP magic (and because he couldn't pull the rusty ass 'real' hero sword). Even though Frieren has time and time again said that Himmel is a true Hero even without that sword ugh.

Author robbed us of the kiss... Even though Frieren knew it was an illusion, she still went for it... HASHDHAHASAS

On the other hand, we got to see Based Himmel being HIM again. Fighting while still under illusion is just such a great move. Heiter and Eisen got some cool moments too, 11/10 chapter.
